ARCATA, California – Kokatat athletes Ben Stookesberry, Chris Korbulic and Freya Hoffmeister have been nominated by National Geographic as Adventurers of the Year. National Geographic is asking the public to vote daily for the People’s Choice Adventurer of the Year. Voting is open now until January 31, 2016.
Stookesberry and Korbulic, along with fellow paddlers Ben Marr and Pedro Oliva completed a source-to-sea first descent of remote rivers in Papua New Guinea this summer. The expedition required helicopters to reach the put-in and featured several grueling portages not to mention the challenging paddling.
