La Sportiva N.A., makers of technical climbing, mountaineering, Mountain Running®, hiking footwear and ski hardware, along with the Triple Crown Bouldering Series, tee up for the final event of the 8th annual Triple Crown bouldering series, Saturday, December 4, 2010, at the Stone Fort, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Continuing with their Triple Crown Bouldering Series special promotion for 2010, La Sportiva will be offering 100 limited edition tech tees for sale at each event.
“As one of climbing’s premier outdoor competition bouldering series,” says La Sportiva Marketing Manager, Laura Fryer. “Not only do we want to be an influential supporter of the Triple Crown, but a key partner to the Southeastern Climbers’ Coalition (SCC) as they have been so instrumental in the acquisition of land for the climbing community.”
Through the sales of their Triple Crown tech tee shirt promotion, La Sportiva raised over $900 at the Hound Ears event in Boone, NC, as well as $400 at the Horse Pens 40 event in Steele, Alabama. La Sportiva will be unveiling its third and final limited edition tee next week at the Stone Fort competition in Chattanooga. As a bonus at the Stone Fort competition, La Sportiva climbing athlete Daniel Woods will be signing tech tees to help meet the overall goal of raising $2000 for the SCC. Tees will be on sale at the La Sportiva booth for $15 each with all the proceeds going to the SCC. The tech tees, produced by Green Layer Sports, offer a breathable blend of 51% bamboo charcoal fiber/49% polyester.
“We couldn’t be more proud and thankful for all of the support and continuing success with our fund raising efforts for southeastern climbing access,” says Triple Crown Co-Organizer Chad Wykle. “Without the support of partners like La Sportiva, hosting the Triple Crown Series would simply be impossible.”
In addition to the tech tee initiative, La Sportiva hosted a BBQ to kick off this year’s Triple Crown Series serving over 300 pork tenderloin sandwiches at the inaugural Hound Ears event in Boone, North Carolina. Thus far, over 200 pairs of La Sportiva shoes were demoed for the series. La Sportiva athlete Jimmy Webb won both the Men’s Open contests at Hound Ears and Horse Pens, with fellow team member Brad Weaver placing second and third respectively.
Pre-registration for the last event of the Triple Crown is still currently open. One can register at Rock/Creek in Chattanooga from 4-6pm on Friday, December 3. For more information, go to: <http://www.triplecrownbouldering.org/registration.htm>.
