La Sportiva & TCB Tee Up for 8th Annual Triple Crown Boulder Series

La Sportiva N.A., makers of technical climbing, mountaineering, Mountain Running® and hiking footwear, along with the Triple Crown Bouldering Series, tee up for the 8th annual Triple Crown bouldering competition event which begins this Saturday, October 2, 2010, with the Hound Ears competition, near Boone, North Carolina. In a special promotion for 2010, La Sportiva will be offering 100 limited edition tech tees (a unique one for each event- Hound Ears, Horse Pens, Stone Fort) for sale at each event.
“The Triple Crown is one of climbing’s premier outdoor competition bouldering series,” says La Sportiva Marketing Manager, Laura Fryer. “Every October, climbers from around the country travel to the Southeast to experience some of the best bouldering anywhere. It is more than just a competition series—it represents a strong support base for the Southeastern Climbers’ Coalition (SCC). The SCC has been instrumental in the acquisition of land for the climbing community, La Sportiva wants to provide as much as support as we can.”
For this year’s series, tees will be on sale at the La Sportiva booth for $15 each with all the proceeds going to the SCC. The tech tees, produced by Green Layer Sports, offer a breathable blend of 51% bamboo charcoal fiber/49% polyester. Through sales of the tee shirts at all three events of the Triple Crown, La Sportiva hopes to raise $4500 for the SCC.
The Triple Crown is a series of bouldering events at three of the premier boulder fields in the Southeast. The series kicks off in the fall beginning with Hound Ears in Boone, NC, moves on to Horse Pens-40 in Steele, AL, and then concludes at the Stone Fort in Chattanooga, TN. The dates for each event are set for October 2 — Hound Ears, November 6 — Horse Pens 40, and December 4 — the Stone Fort.
In addition to the tee shirt fundraiser for the SCC, La Sportiva is also sponsoring a “southern style”(with dedicated vegetarian grill) free barbeque/pre-registration dinner beginning at 5 pm this Friday October 1 (afternoon/evening before the comp). Competitors will be able to pick up their competitor packet at this dinner and preview the competition map. Registration for the Triple Crown is still currently open.
