The new La Sportiva Trango Cube GTX mountaineering boot took home two recent awards from the outdoor industry’s biggest tradeshows. The Trango Cube received the prestigious “OutDoor Gold Industry Award” as the most innovative mountaineering boot at Friedrichshafen on July 11, while the Gear Institute awarded the boot “Best New Gear” at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market tradeshow in Salt Lake City on July 30.

“The Trango Cube GTX represents three years of R&D for La Sportiva, and we’re excited to finally bring it to market,” says Jonathan Lantz, president of La Sportiva. “Now that we’ve shown it, we couldn’t be happier that that the judges and editors see the innovation, technology and quality in this boot.”
According to the judges of the OutDoor Industry Award, “the Trango Cube Gore-Tex is way out front in terms of design as well—and really deserves a GOLD award.” The Gear Institute added, “there are few sports in which cutting ounces counts more than in alpinism, and La Sportiva’s new Trango Cube GTX has dropped a bunch of them. At just 24 ounces for a Men’s 9, the Trango Cube GTX could very well be the lightest mountaineering boot on the market.”
The new Trango Cube GTX represents a new level of materials innovation in La Sportiva’s flagship Mountain category. In development for three years and utilizing two patented manufacturing processes, the boot’s upper is a proprietary synthetic fabric matrix, called QB3, with a Gore-Tex® Performance Comfort lining. The lacing system is direct-inject TPU that weighs one-third less than a traditional riveted lacing system, while maintaining a near-seamless upper for durability and waterproof integrity. The new, exclusive “One” sole by Vibram® completes the boot at just 24 ounces.

Available at retailers in the Spring 2014, the La Sportiva Trango Cube is part of a collection of 15 new footwear styles. The line includes new versions of two top mountain boots, machine washable rock climbing shoes, several new Mountain Running® shoes, two technical, casually-styled approach shoes, and new hiking boots.
