La Sportiva Wants to Hear Your Triple Crown Experience

La Sportiva N.A., makers of technical climbing, mountaineering, Mountain Running® and hiking footwear, announced the new “My Triple Crown” contest in addition to its annual sponsorship of the upcoming 7th Annual Triple Crown Bouldering Series. The “My Triple Crown” contest is slated to begin with the Triple Crown’s first event of the three competition series in Boone, NC, Hound Ears.

“The Triple Crown Bouldering Series is one of climbing’s cornerstone events,” says La Sportiva Marketing Manager, Laura Fryer. “Climbers from around the country migrate to the Southeast every autumn to experience some of the best bouldering anywhere. The Triple Crown is more than just a unique, cumulative 3-part climbing competition series, it represents a strong support base for both the Southeastern Climbers’ and the Carolina Climbers’ Coalitions. As these two organizations have been instrumental in the acquisition of land for the climbing community, it is of utmost importance for La Sportiva to provide as much as support as we can. We hope our Triple Crown sponsorship and new “My Triple Crown” contest helps promote the Triple Crown Series, the regional climbing advocacy groups, as well as the sport of bouldering.”

Climbers who’d like to participate in the La Sportiva “My Triple Crown” contest must attend the first competition of the series, the Hound Ears in Boone, NC, and pick up a signature La Sportiva climbing log book at registration. Participants will be asked to fill out the logbook with creative, funny and inspiring tales of their day climbing, from any one of the three Triple Crown competitions. All participants will receive a free La Sportiva T-shirt; the most creative will win 4 pairs of La Sportiva rock shoes. The Triple Crown is a series of bouldering events at three of the premier boulder fields in the Southeast. The series kicks off in the fall beginning with Hound Ears in Boone, NC, moves on to Horse Pens-40 in Steele, AL, and then concludes at the Stone Fort in Chattanooga, TN. The dates for each event are set for October 3 — Hound Ears, November 7 — Horse Pens 40, and December 5 — the Stone Fort.

In addition to the “My Triple Crown” contest, La Sportiva will be hosting their annual “southern style” barbeque (with dedicated vegetarian grill) at the Hound Ears competition, complimentary for all registrants.
