Lafuma America Inc ended its fiscal year on September 30th 2008 up 24%

Lafuma America Inc (Lafuma / Millet / Eider brands), subsidiary of the large French outdoor Group ended its fiscal year on September 30th 2008 up 24% compared to 2007.

The Outdoor division of the Lafuma brand has experienced a strong 26% increase. The sleeping bags, backpacks and camping furniture categories continue to be the top selling categories in the US; however the strongest growth has occurred in footwear and apparel. The Outdry technology, a new innovation in waterproofing, utilized in Lafuma footwear has been an asset to the growth in this category. In addition, Lafuma’s quality and design in both men’s and women’s clothing has caught both dealers’ and consumers’ attention, creating a steady increase in sales in this category also. Despite the economical challenges, the summer 09 pre-season bookings remain strong, in the double-digit growth figures and FW09 will be a major focus in the apparel and footwear categories.

Millet, the Mountaineering division has experienced a 15% growth in 2008 as a result of a complete new strategy and sales management. The brand is expecting to double its US business in 2009. Millet will be on the main floor at SIA for the first time in January exhibiting their Ride On collection. Millet will have its entire collection displayed at the Outdoor Retailer in SLC.

The Lafuma Group recently acquired the Eider Brand. The Eider US distribution is now being handled by Lafuma America. Some of the Eider sales representatives have been appointed as “in house” sales reps and will be representing a number of the Lafuma Group brands. They will join our “in house” sales team that already services dealers in the Rockies (Millet / Lafuma) and South East territory (Millet / lafuma / Eider). The Eider brand will now benefit from the Lafuma Group Colorado based subsidiary and warehouse services and proximity. Eider will be exhibiting at SIA and the Outdoor Retailer show.

Lafuma America is planning to move its warehouse (spring 09) to a much larger, new facility that will accommodate the company growth. The offices will also be moved to a new location in 2009.

The Lafuma Group divisions include: Lafuma (Great Outdoor division), Millet (Mountaineering divison), Eider (Snowsports division), Oxbow (Surf division), and Le Chameau (Country / lifestyle division).
