LAS VEGAS (Sept. 16, 2013)Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort (LVSSR) announces the addition of winter snow tubing at the ski area for the 2014/15 season. This designated tubing area will be separate from the ski/snowboard terrain, allowing guests to enjoy snow sliding in a safe and monitored area, void of stumps and hazards. The snow tubing area will be open weekends and holiday periods throughout the winter season and will be available for private parties and groups on non-holiday weekdays. Resort operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the winter season.

Open to guests of all ages, advance purchase tickets for 90-minute sessions will be $20 and include an inner tube rental with access to a specially designed tubing lift. For the best deals, guests are encouraged to check the LVSSR website. No outside equipment will be permitted. Pre-booking for winter snow tubing is available at www.skilasvegas.com. Snow tubing parties are also available by contacting info@lvssr.com.

“Our goal is to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for the many visitors to Lee Canyon who enjoy snow play,” said Kevin Stickelman, LVSSR’s president and general manager. “The tubing area will be a friendly introduction to winter activities for those guests who are not as familiar with skiing and snowboarding, and provide another family activity that is long overdue at the ski area.”

In addition to the new tubing area, LVSSR is also currently replacing the 32-year-old Chair 2 chairlift with a Doppelmayr quad chair lift, increasing uphill capacity to 1,800 guests per hour from 900. The base area has also been re-graded along with relocating the bottom terminals of both Chair 2 and Chair 1 to allow for easier loading. Construction, which began earlier this spring, will be complete in time for the 2014/15 season opening day that is Friday, Nov. 28, 2014, weather permitting.

These improvements are some of the first milestones in the larger, multi-million dollar Master Development Plan that includes plans for an additional 34 trails, at least six more lifts, upgraded equipment and enhanced guest facilities.
