Outdoor Industries Women’s Coalition to Honor Outstanding Women Leaders in the Outdoor & Snow Industries
Deadline for Submissions is December 1, 2015
BOULDER, CO, November 19, 2015 – Last call for nominations for The Outdoor Industries Women’s Coalition’s (OIWC) Leadership Awards for the outdoor and snow industries. The OIWC Pioneering Woman Award and First Ascent Award were established by OIWC to recognize the remarkable impact women have had in these industries, on their colleagues, and in their local communities. All industry professionals are encouraged to nominate a leader in their life – deadline is December 1, 2015 at midnight (MST).
The Pioneering Woman Award honors an industry leader with proven leadership skills and has furthered the advancement of women in the outdoors. The First Ascent Award honors an up-and-coming leader and future industry influencer. Past winners include Sally Jewell, U.S. Secretary of the Interior; Sally McCoy, CamelBak; Donna Carpenter, Burton Snowboards; and Annelise Loevlie, Icelantic Skis.
OIWC recognizes that women leaders and a diversified workforce are good for business. OIWC’s Pioneering Woman and First Ascent Awards celebrate the visible impact the advancement of women has had on the active outdoor industries.
“There are many amazing women blazing new trails in the outdoor and snow industries and these awards are an excellent opportunity to highlight their efforts and accomplishments,” says Amy Luther, OIWC Program Director. “I encourage everyone in the outdoor and snow industries to take a moment to honor a woman who has contributed to the growth and expansion of their respective industry while making a positive impact on the lives of those around them.”
Criteria for nominations include:
- The Pioneering Woman Award honors a woman who has been influential in paving the way for other women. The recipient is a recognized leader and mentor. She helps others be successful through role modeling, providing encouragement and creating an inclusive environment. This individual has positively impacted, engaged and supported the industry in which they are employed.
- The First Ascent Award recognizes a woman in the industry who demonstrates strong potential for leadership and career advancement. This individual has a desire to lead and a proven track record for success in her current role.
Nominations must be completed and submitted on our website, oiwc.org, by December 1, 2015. Winners will be announced in January 2016 and honored at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market and Snowsport Industries Snow Show.
