Nonesuch recording artist and singer/songwriter Laura Veirs will perform a benefit concert for Save Our Wild Salmon during the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City. The show will be held at Pierpont Place, 163 Pierpont Ave. on Saturday, August 11, 2007. Doors open at 8 p.m. with a pre-show gear giveaway.

Sponsored by Osprey Packs, Chaco, Patagonia and Verde PR, all ticket proceeds will support Save Our Wild Salmon, a nationwide coalition of conservation organizations, commercial and sportsfishing associations, businesses, river groups, and taxpayer and clean energy advocates working collectively to restore self-sustaining, healthy, and abundant wild salmon to rivers, streams and oceans of the Pacific Salmon states.

Their current priority is an exciting national campaign to restore endangered salmon and steelhead by removing four dams on the lower Snake River, which in turn will restore the Pacific Northwest’s wild salmon and free-flowing rivers as vital economic engines for local communities.

Veirs website (www.lauraveirs.com) biography states, “On her third Nonesuch release, Saltbreakers, singer-songwriter Laura Veirs remains tantalized by the mysteries and marvels of the natural world, filling her work with images, both precise and poetic, of the ocean and the stars.”

Her first self-titled album was released in 1999 and she subsequently has made five highly-acclaimed recordings with producer Tucker Martine. Her last three albums have been recorded on the Nonesuch Record label and she has collaborated and performed with the Decemberists, Bill Frisell and violist Eyvind Kang.

Tickets are $15 each and will be sold on a first come, first serve basis and are available in advance via Save Our Wild Salmon, during Outdoor Retailer at sponsor booths, or at the Pierpont Place door on the evening of the show. To order advance tickets visit www.wildsalmon.org or contact Kristie Miller, (206) 286-4455 ext. 101,Kristie@wildsalmon.org.
