Andreas Fransson will increase his contribution to the development and marketing of Salomon products with a commitment to the ski apparel category

Salomon, the leader in technical design and innovation in mountain sports, has expanded its partnership with ski mountaineer and freeskier Andreas Fransson by adding apparel to Fransson’s sponsorship package. As a current member of the Salomon Freeski International Team and one of the world’s premier backcountry skiers and mountaineers, Fransson is well-tuned on the Salomon brand and its mission to help adventurers get the most out of their experience in the mountains.

Fransson’s profound backcountry product knowledge, mountain skills, skiing prowess and international relationships will be instrumental in further developing Salomon’s ski apparel offering and brand focus.

“As a member of our team, Andreas has helped us zero-in on our backcountry ski products, so we’re thrilled that he’ll be doing the same thing for our ski apparel lines,” says Bruno Bertrand, Salomon global freeski sports marketing manager. “Not only is he a proven leader in the sport, he’s also extremely thoughtful and philosophical, which gives us an important perspective as we move forward with backcountry products, including soft goods.”

“Salomon is the most professional company I’ve worked with,” says Fransson. “We have a great team and I get exactly the support and the best gear I need to play with and learn from in the mountains! I`m thrilled to see the development we have done on the hard goods in the last two years and I hope we can do exactly the same with the soft goods in the years to come.”

Andreas is originally from Sweden, and while he travels the globe for mountain adventure, he currently lives in Chamonix, France, near Salomon’s global headquarters. He was named Sweden’s 2011 male Adventurer of the Year, logged first descents in a half-dozen countries, battled back to life after a devastating accident and became one of the most talked-about athletes in skiing. His 2012 film with Salomon Freeski TV and Switchback Entertainment, Tempting Fear, won multiple awards and was a favorite on the ski film circuit. Fransson says he is looking forward to another exciting year of living and learning in the mountains.

“In 2014, I am looking forward to another exciting year of living and learning in the mountains,” says Fransson. “I will try to find a good balance in between my personal ski goals and projects as well as Freeski TV trips and product development. I have my eye on some exciting lines to ski and climb on different places around the globe.”
