North Vancouver, BC (May 18, 2015) – ARC’TERYX, the technical leader in outdoor performance apparel and equipment, is proud to announce the addition of the ARC’TERYX Climbing Academy to its growing list of educational consumer events. Scheduled to be held July 10th – 12th, 2015 in Squamish, British Columbia, the ARC’TERYX Climbing Academy expects to draw climbing enthusiasts from around the world to scale legendary Squamish routes, while honing their technical skills and learning from some of North America’s best professional rock climbers and alpine guides.
In years past, ARC’TERYX hosted the Squamish Mountain Festival during the month of July, a similar event yet more tuned to the cultural components of the climbing community, but this year decided to switch up the format to incorporate more educational elements to add more value to the attendee experience and improve the event overall.
“Squamish is a climbing mecca and the new Climbing Academy fits perfectly into our event series focused on climbing education around the world,” said Justin Sweeny, North American Sports Marketing Coordinator for ARC’TERYX. “The Academy creates the perfect venue for connecting the climbing community with mountain experience and as the second event in the series; the Squamish Climbing Academy follows our immensely popular Alpine Academy held in Chamonix France in June.”
Along with a strong lineup of climbing clinics, trail building with local access organizations, live music, keynote speakers, and adventure films, ARC’TERYX has also partnered with the new Sea to Sky Gondola this year, allowing participants to access the vertical backcountry terrain surrounding Squamish via the Sea to Sky Gondola.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with the ARC’TERYX Climbing Academy,” said Christy Allen of the Sea to Sky Gondola. “There Sea to Sky Gondola has opened up new access to climbing routes that once took hours or even days to reach.”
“We look forward to sharing a weekend full of educational clinics, local trail building, music, speakers, movies with the international climbing community – it’s going to be the best climbing event Squamish has ever seen,” added Sweeny.
