Buffalo, NY – LEKI USA will be exhibiting at the second annual North American Nordic Walking Expo this Saturday, June 12, at Hyland Lake Park Preserve in Bloomington, Minnesota. The Expo will serve as a gathering place for novices, experts and enthusiasts from all over the U.S. and Canada to learn from one another and keep abreast of the latest information coming out the of the fast growing sport of Nordic Walking.
Presented by Nordic Walking North America (www.nordicwalkingna.com) and Great Lakes Nordic Walkers (www.greatlakesnordicwalkers.com), the Expo is being held in conjunction with the third annual National Get Outdoors Day, a nationwide event that encourages healthy, active outdoor fun. The local Get Outdoors Day event in Minnesota is also taking place at Hyland Lake Park Preserve on June 12, and will feature outdoor activities such as kayaking, biking, and trail running.
The goal of the North American Nordic Walking Expo is to provide instruction and seminars with International, National and Local Nordic Walking Educators and to bring together most of the major Nordic Walking brands, including leading pole manufacturer LEKI. An added dimension to the Expo this year is first-time exhibitor Skechers, who will be providing try-ons of their Shape-Ups footwear and demonstrations of how they work in conjunction with LEKI Nordic Walking poles for a total body workout.
Nordic Walking, or fitness walking with lightweight poles, is quickly becoming the reason why so many Americans are deciding to get active and step up their current fitness level. Begun in Finland in the 1930s as a warm-weather training regimen for cross-country skiers, Nordic Walking took off in Europe about a decade ago and has recently caught on here. It’s easy, it’s convenient, and for as little as 30 minutes a day, three times a week, it can help lower blood pressure, burn up to 46 percent more calories, increase oxygen consumption by 20 percent, reduce cholesterol, use up to 90 percent of all major muscle groups, and help to relieve back, shoulder and neck pain compared to regular walking.
