LEKI Wins 2018 OutDoor Industry Award for New Black Series Trekking Pole

LEKI was presented with the coveted OutDoor Industry Award in the Climbing Category for their innovative Black Series trekking pole last week at the OutDoor Show in Friedrichshafen, Germany. An international jury awards this prize annually to select companies who represent outstanding product innovations during the OutDoor Show.

The Jury Statement on the Black Series: “A super-strong, super-light and comfortable carbon performance trekking pole. We particularly liked the new folding system and inner locking mechanism.” The Jury also listed the Black Series as outstanding in the following evaluation criteria: degree of innovation, functionality, choice of materials and weight/ pack size.

The Black Series is an adjustable high-end folding pole made of 100 percent High Modulus Carbon and is packed with technical features. It is even lighter and more stable thanks to the Core Locking Device (CLD) technology, which features functionality and ease of use that is similar to the clicking mechanism of a pen: the pole can be locked with a simple pull and then clicked into place.

The mechanism is completely integrated inside the pole, and therefore one complete segment is no longer needed and the weight of the pole is reduced by 13 percent, weighing in at only 207 grams. With the locking system inside, the Carbon shaft remains intact thus retaining its full stability and the system is completely protected from the elements.

The Black Series features the edgeless Aergon grip, which gives a natural hand-to-grip fit when climbing and descending, and the breathable and lightweight Skin Strap is equally impressive with its minimal weight. The Speed Lock 2 external adjustment system allows for variable custom length adjustment from 110 to 130 cm. The packed dimensions remain a compact 40 cm.
