Schiller Park, Ill. – Life Fitness has promoted Tim McCarthy to vice president of the international business unit, the company announced today. In his new role, McCarthy will be responsible for the success and continued global growth of the company’s business outside of the United States. The position was previously held by Raj Rao, who is relocating to Asia to be closer to his family.

McCarthy joined Life Fitness in 1991 as a military sales representative, and brings years of sales experience in the fitness industry to the position. Since joining the company, McCarthy has held sales and management positions of increasing responsibility in the athletic, consumer, education, government, hospitality and commercial dealer segments of the business. McCarthy will be succeeded by Mike Zinda, who most recently served as the vice president of sales for Life Fitness national accounts in the U.S.

“Tim has provided great leadership to our athletic, education, government, hospitality and Latin American sales forces over the past three years,” said John Stransky, president of Life Fitness. “He understands our customers’ needs, and I am confident that he will grow the international business.”

Prior to joining Life Fitness, McCarthy was athletic director at the Naval Station Great Lakes in North Chicago, Ill.
