New Summit Trainer from Life Fitness combines
total-body cross-training and climbing
to provide a challenging workout with variety of training options

SCHILLER PARK, Ill. – Sept. 27, 2006 – Question: What do you get when you combine the best of total-body cross-training and climbing? Answer: The Summit Trainer from Life Fitness.

At Club Industry next week, Life Fitness, the global leader in fitness equipment, will introduce the Summit Trainer, a cardiovascular product that combines the best of total-body cross-training and climbing into one intuitive machine that provides a challenging workout with a variety of training options.

“With the Summit Trainer, users have the ultimate in cardiovascular exercise versatility,” said Bob Quast, senior director, cardiovascular product management, Life Fitness. “User-defined stride lengths and a variety of training positions allow exercisers to control workout intensity and target different muscle groups for truly personalized workouts to meet their exercise goals.”

The Summit Trainer lets users define their own stride length, from short, quick strides to deep lunges, and a maximum stride length of 26 inches offers an extensive range of motion. The machine’s design lets users exercise in multiple positions to target different muscle groups and achieve different training intensities, while biomechanically correct moving arms provide a synchronized total-body workout. The unit’s natural climbing motion is comfortable and intuitive even for first-time users, and patented LIFT (Linear Incline Fit Training) Technology makes going from short strides to deep lunges fluid and smooth.

Life Fitness’ patented Lifepulse digital heart rate monitoring hand sensors are conveniently located on the unit’s bullhorns to deliver precise heart rate monitoring, and Polar telemetry provides accurate hands-free heart rate monitoring. Among the product’s 26 exercise programs are four goal-based workouts, five Zone Training+ workouts, which automatically adjust the Summit Trainer’s resistance to keep users in their target heart rate zones, and six custom workouts, so facility staff can create and store programs to meet specific user needs.

The Summit Trainer’s small footprint allows for tremendous placement flexibility, and its aesthetically pleasing industrial design will enhance any setting as well as complement other Life Fitness equipment in a facility. Self-powered, the product can be placed virtually anywhere.

“Easy to use, attractive and durable, the Life Fitness Summit Trainer will appeal to users of varying fitness levels,” said Quast. “It lets fitness facilities offer a unique, effective and exciting exercise experience to attract and retain members.”

The Summit Trainer is available in two models: the Summit Trainer 95Li and the Summit Trainer 95Le. For personal entertainment, the 95Li can be equipped with Life Fitness’ Attachable LCD with E-Z TV Console or the Attachable LCD Entertainment System; the 95Le comes standard with Life Fitness’ E3 Integrated LCD System with Touch Screen Technology, an all-in-one solution for advanced exercise program control, personal entertainment and education.
