LIFE FITNESS TO RECEIVE EQUIPMENT
INNOVATION AWARD FROM ICAA
Fourth Annual Awards Honor
Product Creativity, Excellence

SCHILLER PARK, Ill. – November 15, 2006 – The International Council on Active Aging (ICAA), the world’s largest trade association for senior fitness and wellness, will recognize the Life Fitness Circuit Series as its 2006 Industry Equipment Innovator. The award spotlights North America’s most inventive new fitness equipment for active older adults. ICAA will present Life Fitness with the award on Nov. 16 during its 2006 conference in Las Vegas.

“Life Fitness provides an inspiring example for everyone striving to support healthy, vibrant living for adults ages 50 and older,” said Colin Milner, ICAA founder and chief executive officer. “The Circuit Series is an innovative, high-quality wellness product that promotes greater vitality, health and wellness,” praised Milner. “The Circuit Series helps to improve the quality of life for older adults. ICAA congratulates Life Fitness on the excellence and creativity demonstrated in these award-winning machines.”

Recognizing that fitness facilities want to reach a variety of users, the Circuit Series, a space-efficient line of 11 strength-training machines, was designed to deliver time-efficient, total-body workouts in a user-friendly format appropriate for all ages.

“The recognition from such a respected association in the senior fitness and wellness industry is an honor,” said Greg Highsmith, vice president of fitness education and strength product management, Life Fitness. “Meeting the fitness needs of people at every stage of their lives was an important factor in designing the Circuit Series. It’s approachable for anyone at any fitness level, old or young.”

The Circuit Series was selected for the award because it minimizes intimidation with a design that makes set up adjustments unnecessary, and an innovative resistance system that eliminates traditional weight plates. The patented Lifeband Resistance System lets users set the resistance by pushing and pulling buttons from a seated position. The low profile, easy on/off machines also feature low starting resistances and small incremental changes in resistance, making the Circuit Series especially appealing to strength-training novices.

Life Fitness Academy, the company’s education and training department, also developed a variety of easy-to-implement Circuit Series workout programs. Facilities can use the pre-set workouts or create their own to meet the specific goals of many types of users and special populations, regardless of individual exercise experience. The workouts can address a variety of health and fitness needs including improved cardio health, weight reduction and enhanced flexibility, balance and strength.
Launched in 2003, the ICAA Industry Innovators Awards honor excellence and creativity in the health and wellness field. They also recognize the organizations that have created cutting-edge programs to support active aging among adults ages 50 and older.
