SCHILLER PARK, Ill., Feb. 8, 2011 – Life Fitness, the global leader in the fitness equipment, announces The Life Fitness Journey, a transformative facility planning approach that taps into what motivates people and keeps them on their exercise path.

“We see common motivational drivers among exercisers around the world,” said Bob Quast, vice president of product management for Life Fitness.“The Journey concept uses smart equipment groupings and colorful workout spaces to attract new users and break down the intimidation factor through self-guided exercise options.”

The Life Fitness Journey thoughtfully groups equipment into workout spaces and delivers a clear path to exercising that allows for natural exercise progression. Evolving from more than 40 years of company experience with global facility planning, Life Fitness Journey merges best practices collected from around the world. Utilizing non-traditional equipment layouts and stimulating visuals, Journey creates an environment that enables exercise variety, promotes progression and encourages social interaction, which sets facilities apart from competitors.

Exercise areas known as Life Fitness Journey Spaces create an intimate fitness experience. Spaces combine strategically selected fitness equipment, often highlighted with compelling visuals, to meet the varying needs of many types of exercisers.

The Circuit Space, which includes the Life Fitness Circuit Series™ featuring push-button controls and no set-up adjustments, targets people that are new or are returning to exercise. The Running Space positions treadmills in a half- or a full-circle to encourage social interaction.

Life Fitness Journey also supports personal trainers by providing a platform for program development that guides client advancement. Personal Training or Functional Training Spaces allow trainers to work with clients on an individual basis. The designated area gives the session added importance and highlights trainer activity for other gym-goers.

By grouping spaces with equipment and often visuals to reflect an exercise outcome, such as weight loss or muscle tone, Journey encourages a progression pathway that is easy to understand and rewarding.

Life Fitness Journey will be on display at IHRSA, San Francisco, Moscone Center South, Booth 703, March 16-19, 2011.
