Light & Motion to Support USA Cycling National Championship’s Final 24-hour Event
Company to field teams and provide lighting support at Zia Rides’ 24 Hours in the Enchanted Forest, June 14-15, 2014
June 11, 2014, Marina, CA –Light & Motion, the industry leader in LED bicycle-light innovation, returns to the 24 Hours of the Enchanted Forest in Gallup, New Mexico on June 4, 2014, with a slate of sponsored riders looking for one last chance to hold the prestigious title of 24-hour champion. This is the USA Cycling National Championship’s last 24-hour event.
Solo and team riders will set out en masse with a Le Mans start at noon and ride a 19.7 mile course through the Ponderosa pines of the Zuni Mountains continuously for 24 hours. Since the race goes on through the night, riding with bright, reliable lights gives riders an extra advantage. Light & Motion will help support the race competitors with lights and all-night charging.
The 24-Hour Nationals showcases the top endurance mountain bike riders in the nation. Riding for Light & Motion on the four-person Men’s team is Mountain Bike Endurance and Single Speed Champion, Dax Massey, with veteran endurance race teammates Nate Miller, Ben Jones, and Will McDonald.
“We will roll with dual Seca 2000s during the night laps and expect to ride as fast as any daytime lap. The fact that this is the last 24-Hour USA Cycling National Championship will create a very competitive field but like all 24-hour races the atmosphere is very friendly and Zia Rides puts on a terrific race,” said Dax Massey, team captain and Light & Motion ambassador.
Cyril Jay-Rayon, another long time Light & Motion ambassador, will compete in the Men’s Solo event on Team DART-Nuun-Light & Motion.
Other Light & Motion-sponsored athletes competing in this year’s race include the 2013 Women’s 24-Hour Solo champion Nina Baum (Stan’s NoTubes). Nina will also try to win again as the coach of a National Champion four-person Junior team. Stan’s NoTube Elite Women’s team member Shannon Gibson is aiming for the podium in the five-person Open category.
