DENVER, CO. – (January 16, 2006) – Hummer Global Footwear (HGF), based here, has been formed to bring General Motor’s acclaimed Hummer Sport Utility Vehicles–known for their superhigh performance and distinct appearance—into the footwear world.
Hummer Global Footwear has been granted exclusive global rights for Hummer footwear and also have the rights for Hummer accessories such as belts, wallets and socks. HGF will be unveiling a collection of “Hummer’s for feet†at the WSA Show in Las Vegas, February 10-13.
This newly formed corporation will be led by U.S. shoe industry veteran, Jordan Saliman, who will serve as president of Hummer Global Footwear with offices in Denver, CO. The company is also expected to open offices in Europe that will service Europe and the Mid-East.
Hummer Global Footwear will be backed by the The Promar Group, which is led by Huseyin Kizanlikli, who will also serve as CEO of Hummer Global Footwear.
Promar is the exclusive licensee of Kenneth Cole, Camel Active, Dr. Marten’s and other well know brands in Turkey. Promar provides Hummer Global Footwear with a solid infrastructure, strengthening all facets of the brand, from manufacturing to marketing.
“It’s refreshing to see the pride, workmanship and enthusiasm of this factory group and its exciting to think about the kinds of Hummer products we’ll be able to do with Huseyin’s involvementâ€, said Saliman. “The factories are skilled in a variety of constructions—direct attach, injection and Goodyear welt—all well-suited for Hummer products.â€
In addition to this manufacturing resource, Hummer Global Footwear has also formed alliances with top factories in Asia and Europe.
“We’re extremely proud of this new venture with General Motors and their very exciting Hummer brand,†said Kizanlikli.
The new Hummer footwear collection will capitalize on the elements that consumers have come to expect from its go-anywhere ultra-durable vehicles, and the image and attitude it inspires. The initial men’s Hummer footwear series will reflect the brands diversity in six different segments.
The flagship product will be a collection of outdoor waterproof models that mirror the high-end Hummer H1 Alpha SUV—complete with all the bells and whistles. The “Land†collection focuses on multi-use outdoor shoes with trail running technology being the influence. A Rugged Casual collection of comfort shoes takes off on the famed Hummer suspension and includes chukka boots, semi-sport and moccasin patterns. Sandals certainly are part of the Hummer active lifestyle and will be represented in the line in the future.
Rounding out Hummer Footwear’s fall 2006 collection will be styles inspired by the all-American icon—the work boot. The Goodyear welted work boot goes beyond its vocational roots and appeals to the work-inspired consumer for everyday wear, while the classic Ranch Wellington boot will equip feet during a hard days work.
The retail range of the men’s line is $70-$150.
Although a dominant men’s line for spring 2007, Hummer Global Footwear sees an outstanding opportunity in both women’s and kid’s as well. At the WSA show they will be introducing a limited collection of women’s and children’s styles as well.
“Hummer isn’t an ordinary brand with an ordinary vehicle. There is a Hummer brand mystique that touches all of us. It’s a spirit—an attitude—that exhorts us to make our mark in life. Be dynamic. Be daring,†explains Hummer’s Jordy Saliman. “This new, fresh and exciting Hummer footwear enables the consumer to identify with the Hummer spirit.â€
