Lorpen (ORWM booth # 31155W), a leading designer and manufacturer of high performance socks for outdoor and wintersport enthusiasts, has expanded its Tri Layer sock collection and is pleased to introduce the new Trail Runner Sock for both men and women. In addition, based on the popularity of the adult hiking socks, Lorpen has introduced a merino hiking sock specifically designed for kids. The kid’s hiking socks are available for fall ’10 and the Tri Layer Trail Runner sock will be available at retail in spring ’11.
“As apparel technology improves, athletes are demanding more from their gear, so Lorpen has designed and manufactured socks that will help athletes and outdoor enthusiasts perform better at whatever they do,†says Colin Sanders, VP of sales and marketing at Lorpen North America. “The Lorpen Trail Runner sock will help trail runners get a good grip within their shoe, and the Tri Layer technology that Lorpen is known for will help manage moisture and keep their feet dry on the trail.â€
TRAIL RUNNER SOCK
Lorpen’s new high-performance Tri Layer Trail Runner Sock creates the perfect combination of natural and synthetic fibers to move moisture away from the foot. The Trail Runner sock optimizes the benefits of Trail running shoes (shock absorption, fit and protection in descents) and adapts perfectly to the foot to ensure that the skin stays dry and blister free. The Trail Runner Sock features Tri Layer Technology whereby three layers of yarn are knit together to create a lightweight running sock that is comfortable, durable, and keeps feet dry. The first layer, closest to the skin, is made of Coolmax, a synthetic fiber that is designed to move moisture away from the skin. The second layer, or middle layer, is made of Tencel, a natural fiber able to hold significant amounts of moisture once it has passed through the Coolmax layer. The third layer, made of Nylon, is highly durable making the sock resilient and long lasting. The nylon fibers are concentrated in the toe, heal and shin where the sock gets the maximum abrasion. The Trail Runner Sock is a “shorty†height sock to prevent trail debris from getting in the sock and is available in a variety of thickness options for men and women. MSRP: $10.99 – 12.99.
KIDS HIKING SOCK
Based on the tremendous feedback from the adult hiking socks, Lorpen is pleased to introduce the Jr. Light Hiker (TKW). Made just like the adult version, this is a great sock for kids who like to be outdoors and need more than just a cotton sock made in a kid’s size. The TKW is a performance sock made of 38% Merino wool, 37% acrylic, 15% Nylon, and 10% Lycra. The additional cushioning will help your little hiker last longer on the trail and enjoy the day without blisters and wet feet. The TKW is durable, comfortable and easy to wash. MSRP: $9.99
“We are ecstatic to see more kids enjoying the outdoors and want to make sure this trend continues,†continued Sanders. “Having comfortable socks and dry, blister-free feet is one of the most important aspects of hiking and kids should not have inferior gear. So, that is why Lorpen designed a high-performance hiking sock for kids made with high-quality merino yarn and added cushioning.â€
