LOS ANGELES; March 16, 2015 — The Farmer’s Daughter Hotel, in conjunction with the Santa Barbara-born footwear brand SeaVees, announces the debut of the “Nobody Walks in LA” package (follow the hashtag #NobodyWalks), a new offering that provides guests the amenities needed to enjoy a vehicle-free vacation. Born out of the resurgence of “new urbanism”— the movement to promote more walkable neighborhoods and inspiring guests to leave the car keys at home —as well as a desire to challenge the notion that Los Angeles is a car-dependent city, the package includes a pair of SeaVees Standard Collection sneakers for each guest, a prepaid metro card complete with a map of Farmer’s Daughter-recommended bars and restaurants near a Metro stop, vintage bicycles for use during the guest’s stay, and more.

Centrally located in Los Angeles’ Fairfax District, the Farmer’s Daughter Hotel is just steps from The Original Farmers Market, CBS Television City Studios, and popular vintage and boutique shopping along Beverly Boulevard. Hotel owners, and husband-and-wife team, Peter and Ellen Picataggio champion the accessibility of their Fairfax neighborhood and often seek novel ways to help guests explore the neighborhood, including the creation of the hotel’s video-game inspired 8-bit map found on the hotel’s FarmLifeLA blog.
Available for booking now through early fall 2015, the “Nobody Walks in LA” package includes:
• Two-nights in a newly redesigned Robin Room
• Vintage bicycles for use during the stay
• A pair of new SeaVees Standard Collection sneakers for each guest (in guests’ individual sizes; up to two guests)
• Metro cards complete with a complimentary bar crawl guide of Farmer’s Daughter recommended watering holes, in walking distance of Metro stops)
The “Nobody Walks in LA” package comes on the heels of an exciting redesign taking place at the Farmer’s Daughter Hotel, which recently completed updates to 40 of its 66 guestrooms, including all of the hotel’s Robin Rooms—named for the signature robin’s egg blue wallpaper. New touches include custom-made furniture, featuring Acacia wood bed frames and headboards; grasscloth- and tile-wrapped walls that add richness and texture to the space; tech updates, such as electric mirrors, additional reading lights, and electrical outlets; and original artwork from local Los Angeles artists displayed via an “art box” built into the wall of each room.
The “Nobody Walks in LA” package is available for booking now through fall 2015 (subject to blackout dates), with rates starting at $500 for the two-night stay package in one of the newly renovated deluxe Robin Rooms. Interested parties may book their reservation by calling 800.334.1658 or visiting www.farmersdaughterhotel.com.
About the Farmer’s Daughter Hotel
Farmer’s Daughter Hotel, located in the heart of Los Angeles’ historic Fairfax district, provides a playful yet chic haven for Southern California visitors and locals alike. From creative types searching for inspiration and an oasis amid a bustling metropolis, to tech-savvy business travelers looking to meet their workspace needs while also taking in some rest and relaxation under the California sun, this iconic hotel—with 66 design-forward guestrooms—is a unique boutique destination. The hotel’s ambiance conjures up the image of a modern farmhouse by placing agrarian touches within a funky mix of contemporary design and country chic. This signature aesthetic channels both the property’s 40-year-plus history and Los Angeles’ past life as orange grove-filled farmland. The historic hotel was purchased and fully remodeled in 1997 by current owners Ellen and Peter Picataggio, and is currently undergoing a second exciting redesign, including updates to the guestrooms, lobby, pool area, and exterior, slated for completion in spring 2015. New touches include a game room with a custom billiards table that can convert to a ping pong table; as well as an updated courtyard featuring three new vinyl cabanas with group seating, fire pits, and a new exterior bar. The hotel is additionally updating 40 of its guestrooms and two suites, with highlights ranging from new furnishings and cutting-edge tech components (think electric mirrors) to custom made art installations in each room featuring the works of local LA artists.
