Bend, Ore.– The Conservation Alliance will recognize its 20th anniversary in style at the upcoming Outdoor Retailer trade show in Salt Lake City. The Alliance hosts its regular breakfast event on Wednesday, July 22, 7-9 AM at The Marriott, featuring a multi-media presentation by Rick Ridgeway. That evening, the Alliance hosts its 20th Anniversary Party, 6-11 PM at Caffe Molise. Both events are free, but invitations are required for the party. Invitations will be available at the breakfast, and at the booths of each sponsoring company (see list below).
“In 1989, four companies came to the same realization that the outdoor industry needed to do more to protect the wild places on which the outdoor business depends,†said John Sterling, Executive Director of The Conservation Alliance. “Twenty years later, we celebrate the action that followed that realization.â€
Ridgeway’s talk, called Freedom to Roam, will focus on an emerging effort to create wildlife corridors to allow wildlife to adapt to habitat changes caused by global warming. With stunning photographs, Ridgeway will tell the story of how wildlife habitat is shifting, and what we all can do to help them adapt to these changes.
The party will feature live music by Pictures And Sound and the Outdoor Industry All-Star Band. Caffe Molise will provide a kebab grill for people who want to enjoy dinner without missing any of the party. The Alliance will also provide a short retrospective of 20 years of conservation successes.
“We hope all of our members will join us in celebrating 20 great years of protecting wild places,†said Sterling. “We have a lot to be proud of.â€
About The Conservation Alliance:
The Conservation Alliance is an organization of outdoor businesses whose collective contributions support grassroots environmental organizations and their efforts to protect wild places where outdoor enthusiasts recreate. Alliance funds have played a key role in protecting rivers, trails, wildlands and climbing areas.
