Kids just want to have fun and LOWA has stepped up to the plate to make it happen. They have teamed up with the American Hiking Society to sponsor a coloring contest in each of four annual issues of American Hiker Magazine. The partnership is designed to encourage awareness of the American Hiking Society, their National Trail Days promotion and the LOWA kids product line.

The coloring page in each issue will have a seasonal theme, the first one a kick-off to National Trail Days held the first Saturday in June. Potentially famous young artists will also be able download the page on the LOWA and American Hiking Society websites. Winners from each of four age groups per issue will win a pair of boots and have their artwork featured on LOWA’s website.

The American Hiking Society is one of the industry’s top non-profits that supports hiking in America and they do a great job with limited resources,” commented Peter Sachs, general manager of LOWA in the U.S. “Our sponsorship of the coloring contest is a fun way to reach our young customers and their parents and do our part in supporting this outstanding organization.”

LOWA offers a line of boots for active kids that parallels the look and quality of their adult counterpart. The mid and lo-cut hikers offer comfortable support from trails to schoolyards to skate parks. Each model utilizes high quality leathers combined with high-tech components such as GORE-TEX waterproof and breathable lining, shock absorbing PU midsoles and durable rubber outsoles.

For the last three decades, the American Hiking Society has been protecting the nation’s trails and encouraging people to enjoy nature through the hiking experience. They work towards ensuring that hiking trails are preserved for generations to come. National Trails Day® is a celebration of trails that evolved from a 1987 report of President Ronald Reagan. The report recommended that all Americans be able to go out their front doors and within fifteen minutes, be on trails that wind through their cities or towns and bring them back without retracing steps. In 1993, the recommendation became the impetus for the American Hiking Society’s launch of National Trails Day®.
