Located in North Conway, New Hampshire, Mount Washington Valley has plenty of ice terrain where over 500 ice climbers from across the U.S. and Canada are expected to congregate January 31-February 2 for the 21st annual Mount Washington Valley Ice Festival. Amid the celebration of ice climbing, the mountains and the climbing community, festival participants are invited to the LOWA tent to visit, check out and demo their world-class German mountaineering boots including the Weisshorn GTX, Mountain Expert GTX EVO, Ice Comp IP GTX and the Latox XT models.

LOWA ambassador, Carlos Buhler, will be a special guest and on hand to answer questions, teach classes and lead climbs. With major ascents on five continents, including the first (and only) ascent of Mt. Everest via the east Kangshung Face from Tibet, Carlos is considered one of the most accomplished mountain climbers in the world. His specialty is high-standard mountaineering characterized by small teams, no oxygen, minimal gear and equipment on ascents of difficult routes in challenging conditions.

The boot tent team will be led by Brian Hamann, LOWA’s experienced sales representative in the Northeast. Assisting Brian will be Christian McConnell from LOWA’s U.S. office.

Participating festival attendees are encouraged to take this opportunity to find out about LOWA boots, the German quality that goes into each model and the differentiation between LOWA and other products on the market. Climbers can “try before they buy” to choose the model best suited for individual feet and for the Northeast terrain.

The Mount Washington Valley Ice Festival is the premier ice climbing and winter mountaineering event on the East Coast and one of the longest-running ice climbing festivals in the world. Events are held at International Mountain Equipment (IME), official host of the event in conjunction with their International Mountain Climbing School. Activities will include competitions, various beginning to advanced climbing clinics and the opportunity to check out and try the latest gear while catching up with some of the world’s most experienced climbers.
