The winners of ISPO’s Outdoor Awards for the best innovations have been selected and LOWA’s Expedition 8000 RD is at the top of the footwear category list. It won because of its combination of innovative manufacturing technology and high-tech materials. The competition is divided into five categories and was open to both exhibitors and non-exhibitors. The awards will be officially presented by an international jury during the upcoming ISPO show, held July 16-18 in Munich, Germany.

The LOWA Expedition 8000 RD provides the extreme warmth needed to climb between 6000 and 8000 meters, the world’s highest peaks. Designed with a double construction, the inside is made of a close-cell moldable foam topped with a silver reflective heat barrier. The outside utilizes 4mm of the top-of-the-line Duratherm KL on the market. It is backed with Gore-Tex and an addition layer of close-cell foam. A Vibram Expert sole provides crampon compatibility and the tall gaiter offers further protection from the elements.

LOWA Boots LLC, with headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, is a partnership with LOWA Sportschuhe Gmbh founded in 1923 and based in Jetzendorf, Germany. The U.S. company, launched in 1996, sells, markets, and distributes a complete line of hiking, backpacking, trekking, mountaineering, all-terrain and snow boots, active casual shoes, clogs, and sandals as well as alpine touring boots in the United States and Mexico.
