SEATTLE (Jan. 26, 2012) – Madshus, the worlds oldest ski company is proud to announce the sponsorship of the inaugural Teva Winter Mountain Games in Vail, Colo., February 10 – 12, 2012. As the official Nordic sponsor of the event, Madshus Team athletes will be present for the kick-off of the first Nordic Freestyle competition.
The Teva Mountain Games, founded in 2002 has quickly grown to the point of hosting more than 2,500 adventure athletes and 40,000 spectators over the course of the annual four-day summer event. As a seemingly natural evolution, the Teva Mountain Games present the winter competition this season in it’s first year, offering events that include ice climbing, on-snow biking, telemark skiing, Nordic competitions, running, dog events and a Ultimate Mountain Man/Woman combination event.
Professional and amateur Nordic racers will test their endurance, strength and technical skills at the Nordic Freestyle competition, February 10, 2012, 10:00 am at the Vail Nordic Center. The 5k and 10k races are not for the faint of heart; the course will test the skills of the finest Nordic contenders. The Nordic race is one part of the Ultimate Mountain Challenge – a grueling combination of Nordic Freestyle, Vail Uphill and Ski Mountaineering, the athlete with the lowest combined time for all three events will claim the top UMC honor to be crowned the Ultimate Mountain Man or Woman and take home the cash.
“When creating events, we always look to those who not only talk the talk, but walk the walk in the outdoor industry to team up as partners,” said Shelley Woodworth, Vail Valley Foundation, organizers of the Winter Teva Mountain Games presented by Eddie Bauer. “In this spirit, we look forward to having Madshus as part of our Nordic competition at the inaugural winter celebration of mountain lifestyle.”
