At the 2011 Outdoor Retailer Summer Market,Metropolitan Vacuum Cleaner Companyof Suffern, New York, Booth #34059, will be exhibiting a new generation of rapid-deployment Magic-Air® Electric Inflator/Deflators. These high-volume new unitstake the work out of quickly inflating and deflating all types and sizes of inflatable watercraft, floats, pools, pool toys, air mattresses…even inflatable structures.
Of special interest to inflatable kayak (IK) or inflatable stand-up paddlers (ISUP) is the Magic-Air® 12V-IDAR (pictured above),a lightweight, compact, 12-Volt unit with an automotive power-point plug adapter. Despite its small size, the 12V-IDAR pours out 20 cubic ft. of air per minute, while maintaining the ideal recommended pre-inflation pressure of 1.0 psi.
“We designed the newest generation of the 12V-IDAR specifically for the rapidly expanding small inflatable watercraft market,” says Ken Stern, Metro’s VP National Sales. “Today’s paddlers don’t want to waste their energy on tedious, time-consuming, manual pre-inflation. They want to get their IK’s or ISUP’s unpacked, pre-inflated, topped-off and on the water as quickly and effortlessly as possible.”
The Magic-Air® 12V-IDAR is made in the USA with a rugged steel body to withstand years of rough handling and heavy use. It is more streamlined and ergonomically designed than other 12-Volt offerings on the market and stows easily away in your kayak’s storage duffle or the trunk of even the smallest car. When you get to the water, simply plug it into any of your vehicle’s 12-Volt power-points, or the cigarette lighter, and flip the switch. It takes under three minutes to fully pre-inflate an average 10-foot kayak to the ideal 1.0 psi. From there, manual top-off to 2.5 psi takes only a matter seconds per chamber.
For river rafters, professional guides and outfitters who need more output capacity for their much larger craft, Metro also offers several 110-Volt AC Magic-Air® models. These require a standard electrical outlet and, in order to use them in remote drive-to locations, you’ll need either a truck with a built-in AC power converter and grounded outlet, or a small camp generator. These systems deliver anywhere from 70 to 130 cubic ft. of air per minute depending on the model.
