Rohnert Park (CA): With a panel of 57 judges from 14 countries and 3 continents, the European ISPO AWARD is one of the most important outdoor industry awards in the world. Last month, Marmot’s new Isotherm Hoody, constructed with remarkable Polartec® Alpha® insulation, was selected as a “GOLD WINNER” in the outdoor segment, for the midlayer insulation category.
Marmot’s new Isotherm Hoody, available this fall, includes cutting-edge Polartec® Alpha® insulation throughout the entire garment. Alpha® is an exciting new concept in synthetic insulation with unsurpassed thermo-regulation and breathability.
“Unlike conventional synthetic insulations, Alpha® has a unique knitted structure that permits body heat and moisture vapor to move through the insulation—away from the body,” explains Brian LaPlante, Marmot’s Director of Outdoor Apparel. “This allows us to create ‘active insulation’ garments designed for high aerobic use.” LaPlante adds, “The Isotherm is an ideal insulated jacket for ski-touring, hiking, mountaineering and everyday outdoor uses—especially in colder temperatures.”
Marmot’s new Isotherm Hoody (14.7oz / 416.7g), available for men and women—and also offered in a hoodless version—includes an internal DriClime® mesh lining for additional moisture management and comfort. The jacket is finished with a 20 denier Pertex Quantum® face fabric and softshell reinforcements on the shoulders.
Andy Schimeck, Managing Director of Marmot Europe adds, “Marmot has always aimed at producing functional products at the highest technical standards for mountain professionals and outdoor enthusiasts. We are proud to have been awarded the ISPO GOLD AWARD WINNER 2013 for our Isotherm Hoody—this encourages us to continue our path of innovation and technical leadership.”
About ISPO AWARD
Each year, ISPO MUNICH honors the sports industry‘s most exceptional products with the ISPO AWARD. Independent juries of experts evaluate hundreds of entries from exhibitors and non-exhibitors according to exactly defined criteria. This high-caliber selection is a welcome orientation tool for sports business professionals and assists retailers in making their selection for their product portfolio. The ISPO AWARD is divided into the four segments Action, Ski, Outdoor, and Performance, which are each again divided into product-specific categories. From 2013 the Eco Responsibility Division is part of the Product Division. This year the international jury selected one Product of the Year per segment and one GOLD WINNER as well as a certain amount of WINNERS, depending on the applications.
