Rohnert Park (CA) Outside magazine has selected four of Marmot’s top 2015 products to be featured in their Summer Buyer’s Guide as among the best outdoor gear to have for this summer season. Marmot’s Force 2-person tent ($389) and the Electrum 30 sleeping bag ($159) were field-tested and subsequently highlighted in the publicationwhich comes out each spring and fall. In addition, Marmot’s Women’s Crux jacket—constructed with Marmot NanoPro™ MemBrain® waterproof and breathable fabric—and Marmot’s Lightening Carry-on travel luggage ($249) were also tested and featured. These 2015 standout products from Marmot appear in Outside’s Summer Buyer’s Guide which hits newsstands this week.

Wade Woodfill, Marmot’s Category Merchandising Equipment Manager, reflects on the creation of the Force 2-person tent which was introduced to Outside editors at the 2014 Summer Market Outdoor Retailer trade show: “We set out two years ago to create an entirely new look and design ethos in our ultra-light tent category,” explains Woodfill. “Too often space and livability are scarified in the pursuit of weight reduction. Our goal with the Force series was to reduce weight without reducing habitability—and we did just that.”

Woodfill and his design team also successfully landed Marmot’s new Electrum 30 sleeping bag in Outside’s Summer Buyer’s Guide. The Electrum 30 is a cutting-edge hybrid sleeping system which smartly integrates down and synthetic insulation zones for greater warmth, comfort and thermo regulation.

“We’ve been a successful hard goods company for decades,” explains Woodfill, who has created award-winning products for Marmot since he started working for the company in 2009. “Receiving these accolades from Outside’s expert testers speaks to Marmot’s on-going commitment to develop exciting new innovations, technologies and products, which become meaningful advancements for our customers,” he adds.

Sam Moulton, Outside Buyer’s Guide editor says: “Our team of gear experts had plenty of difficult choices to make in putting together the Summer Buyer’s Guide this year, but after testing everything from hiking packs and running shoes to wearable tech and commuter bikes, we hand-picked the very best 350 products.”
