Santa Rosa, CA: Marmot’s Variant jacket—new for fall 2010—has received National Geographic Adventure’s “Gear of the Year” award this month. This fleece-meets-insulated hybrid jacket is perfect for cold weather layering, but it also performs and looks great as a stand alone piece.

The Variant ($140) is constructed with Marmot’s new Thermal Râ„¢ Eco insulation on the front to keep your core area warm. Polartec® Power Stretch® fleece runs throughout the shoulders, arms and side panels for superior athletic performance.

“The Variant definitely stood out when we were looking for innovative designs that could take us into the colder fall temperatures–and perform well,” explains Steve Casimiro, contributing editor of National Geographic Adventure and founder of Adventure Journal. “This hybrid offers superior warmth-to-weight value in a stylish, functional design,” he adds.

The Variant comes in both men’s and women’s styles and is available this fall. For more information check out www.marmot.com
