McNett Helps NCI Repair Outdoor Gear to Get Kids Outside & Donates Over $2K in Backpacking Gear

Bellingham, WA – McNett® is pleased to announce another successful Repair Day with North Cascades Institute (NCI). Not only did McNett help to repair outdoor gear for NCI, but they also presented the non-profit with over $2000 in backpacking gear to help support programs that get kids outside. McNett has donated over $24,000 in outdoor gear to the NCI Gear Locker to-date in support of their Take a Kid Outside initiative.
“We started the Take a Kid Outside initiative in the hopes of providing outdoor gear to kids who don’t have the means to attain the equipment themselves,” said Gerald Craft, consumer marketing director. “We found an ideal fit with NCI’s youth programs like Mountain School and Youth Leadership Adventures, where kids are educated about outdoor stewardship and leadership. We’re proud to be able to help support those programs with equipment and by helping to repair their damaged gear.”
McNett staff met with NCI leaders at McNett headquarters for an afternoon of repairing broken zippers, ripped stuff stacks, torn pants and other damaged gear. After the repairs were completed, NCI was presented with a donation of sleeping bags, kitchen tools, camping towels, repair items and more.
“Our ability to outfit everything a kid needs makes our program unique and accessible to kids of all backgrounds,” said Matt Kraska, youth leadership lead instructor at NCI. “We couldn’t do it without the donations McNett provides or their support in helping to repair our outdoor gear.”
