Medicines Global Inaugural ‘GET kids MOVING’ Option High School Program Sponsored by adidas Outdoor

Los Angeles, CA. June 12th, 2014 ~ To kick of summer,Medicines Global introduced the Outdoor Youth Ambassador (MGOYA) program to 19 students from The Walt Whitman High School, an Option High Schools located on the Fairfax High School Campus.

Option High Schools are small Los Angeles Unified School District campuses with low student-to-teacher ratios, offering instruction to students who are deemed at risk of not completing their education. MGOYA ‘GET kids MOVING’ programs will serve as a model for other Option High Schools throughout Los Angeles

An adidas OUTDOOR fiscal and product sponsorship made possible the launch of this new program taking students to Point Dume (Malibu) for a hike, whale watching and a beach picnic sponsored by Whole Foods Market.

An effective way of developing the next generation of adventure traveling is to offer outdoor adventures to as many kids as possible. Hiking, rock climbing, camping, surfing, seeing snow for the first time, breathing the desert air, it’s all unforgettable for urban youth & the ripple effect is infinite,” explains, Johanna Belson, Director, Medicines Global Outdoor Youth Ambassador programs.
