“Medicines Global has delivered more than $4.5 million in medical supplies in Eagle Creek bags. We believe adventure travelers should give back to the places they visit. We will continue educating travelers about the ease of dropping off first aid supplies on the way to their adventure destinations.”
Ricky Schlesinger
Executive Vice-President
Eagle Creek

Eagle Creek, GoLite, Vasque, Adventure Medical Kits, KEEN Hybrid.Care, GoPro, LEKI USA, Mountain HardWear, Isis, BodyGlide and Brunton are among the sponsors of Medicines Global 9th Anniversary Nepal Expedition November 9-30, 2008.

Joining the Medicines Global expedition will be 4 Outdoor Youth Ambassadors (MGOYAs) from Watts, CA. They will be selected from among the 120 MGOYA students that completed the Brunton Medicines Global LA WALK (part of the LA MARATHON, March 2008).

MGOYA students were the recipients of the GoPro first “get youth into the outdoors” camera grant for 2008-2009. This year the MGOYAs have participated in camping trips to: Yosemite, Joshua Tree, Death Valley and the Central Coast of CA.

Medicines Global is celebrating nine years of giving back. This small and conservatively funded not-for–profit, 501(c)(3), has been able to consistently provide challenged communities with more than $4.5 million in Rx supplies (including apparel and basic living support items) through the hands of adventure travelers over the past nine years. Since 1999, 18 organized expeditions have taken Rx supplies and provisions to Nepal, Mongolia, Russia, Siberia, Tibet, Ecuador, Sri Lanka, El Salvador and to hurricane ravaged Biloxi, Mississippi. The mission of Medicine’s Global is simple – to inspire adventure travelers to give back to the places they visit by delivering small amounts of basic first aid supplies to designated medical clinics and community health posts along their journeys

Surya Bastakoti, owner of the Himalayan Kitchen, in order to support the Nepal 2008 Expedition will donate 5% of all meal receipts from Outdoor Industry members (August 8th to Aug 11th). The restaurant is located at 73 East 400 South, Salt Lake. Please mention Outdoor Industry affiliation.

For information requests regarding joining the Medicines Global 9th Anniversary Expedition team information requests with business cards can be left for Janice Belson, Executive Director of Medicines Global, at the booths of: Eagle Creek, GoLite, Vasque, Adventure Medical Kits, KEEN Hybrid.Care, GoPro, LEKI USA, Mountain HardWear, Isis, BodyGlide and Brunton.

“What if every adventure traveler became a courier of much needed medical supplies to every corner of the earth? What impact would that simple act of kindness and care have on healthcare across the globe?”
