Merrell and Zappos Adaptive Come Together To Get Mobile For A Cause: Mobility May by the Range of Motion Project


Denver, CO — This May, global non-profit the Range of Motion Project (ROMP) is hosting its annual “Mobility May” to support its mission of providing high quality prosthetic care to amputees in need. Merrell and Zappos Adaptive, Zappos.com’s curated shopping experience featuring functionable, fashionable products to make life easier, have joined as presenting sponsors to this global event. The goal is to complete 100,000 miles together in May and raise $25,000 for ROMP. 

Miles for First Steps 

With the support of Merrell and Zappos Adaptive, ROMP aims to recruit 1,000 people to join the Mobility May initiative to complete 100,000 miles together as a community and raise $25,000 for ROMP’s patients. ROMP is encouraging the community to ‘do 100 and raise $100.’ In addition, Merrell will donate $5 to ROMP for everyone that signs up, for up to 1,000 people. 

“The idea is to dedicate your mobility in May to those in need of theirs. While most people choose to hit the trails, some people commit to 100 push ups, squats, burpees, or minutes of activity per day, week or for the month. Our campaigns are inclusive, always free, and we encourage people to choose their own challenge. We are in this together – no effort is too small,” says Nicole Ver Kuilen of ROMP. 

Throughout the month, Merrell and Zappos Adaptive will be giving out prizes to participants and using their platforms to tell the stories of ROMP patients to encourage people to join and get mobile!  “May is the perfect time to embrace the simple power of being outside while being grateful for our own mobility,” says Ann Paradise, Merrell Retail Marketing Manager. “We believe the outdoors is a place everyone deserves to enjoy and we are excited to partner with ROMP to give the gift of mobility and to encourage all people to get mobile.”

Global Impact

The Range of Motion Project (ROMP) is a non-profit healthcare organization dedicated to providing prosthetic care to those without access. ROMP aims to return patients to their families and communities as productive, healthy individuals after receiving prosthetic care. 

In developing countries, amputation is much more prevalent due to lack of good and consistent health care. The World Health Organization estimates that 90% of the world’s amputees cannot access prosthetic technologies. 

ROMP aims to address this healthcare need through its programs in Latin America and the U.S. Mobility campaigns, like Mobility May, help ROMP raise essential funds to complete its mission. “We are in a unique position to leverage our own mobility to help amputees receive the prosthetic treatment and technology that they need to redefine their potential,” said David Krupa, co-founder of ROMP. “Every mile you do can help change a life!”
