Passionate about getting more people outside, Merrell® opened its call for new grant applications for “The Pack Project” initiative. The Pack Project selects and funds programs and ideas that inspire an increase in outdoor participation. Grants of $2500 directly support the resources and funding that non-profit groups and charitable organizations need to implement their ideas for increased outdoor physical activity. “We are excited to fund more programs that demonstrate a desire for getting people of all ages outside and active,” said Meg Hammond, director global marketing at Merrell. “This next round is open, and we are hoping for a record number of programs to submit their great ideas. This can bring five more ideas to life that make a healthy impact on local communities by simply getting outside together.”
Data from the first cycle of grant recipients shows results of nearly 2,000 people that spent over 77,000 hours outside connecting to their world. Cycle two grant recipients’ “get outside” programs have just begun. Types of outdoor recreation encouraged by these programs include: hiking, biking, paddling, running and general outdoor play.
