Merrell OR Volleyball Challenge Raises Over $2,400 for National Parks

The Merrell volleyball challenge took center stage in a fun-filled tournament at the OR industry party. The nine teams that competed donated over $1,200 for the National Park Foundation and Merrell matched this amount for a total of $2,400 donation.

Bringing the beach to Outdoor Retailer for the first time, the Merrell volleyball challenge took center stage in a fun-filled, competitive tournament during the Outdoor Industry Party on the first evening of the Summer Market show. The nine teams that competed donated over $1,200 for the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks, and Merrell matched this amount for a total of $2,400 donation. Participating brands Briggs & Riley Travelware, Brooks Range, CamelBak, Green Guru Gear, Hi-Tec, ITW Nexus Global, Merrell, Outside Magazine and Patagonia Footwear each donated $138 to the National Park Foundation, in celebration of Yellowstone’s 138th birthday. Team Hi-Tec walked away with the winning trophy, with Merrell following close behind with the toilet bowl trophy for second place.

“We thank everyone who participated on the court and off in our debut volleyball tournament for the National Park Foundation,” said Amy Roder, marketing specialist at Merrell. “Having Karen Davis of the National Park Foundation open the tournament offered the teams and crowd a valuable reminder of how much we all need and respect our parks as natural playgrounds. Based on the excitement of this first tournament, we expect to grow the challenge next year so more teams can participate in the fun. The camaraderie, cheering fans, flip cup off-court tournaments and overall vibe was a great way to kick off the Industry Party and Summer Market show, and we hope to make this a summer tradition.”
