MFU Sets Attendance Record at Mt. Snow, VT, Debuts in Europe

More than 120 snowsports retailers, instructors and allied medical professionals gathered at the fall kick-off Masterfit University in Mt. Snow, VT, October 2-3. They were joined by more than 20 manufacturers’ representatives who came to both learn bootfitting skills and promote their products at the new mini-trade fair that is part of the MFU 2011 tour.


“Vermont is typically our best attended session but this was a record by far for any Masterfit U in our 16 year history,” said MFU Executive Director Steve Cohen. “Our previous high attendance was 105 at Stratton (VT) in 2008.”


“MFU has evolved over the years,” said Cohen. “It’s no longer just an event where we just teach bootfitting techniques to attendees. It has become a bootfitters convention with an active interchange of ideas among participants and a place for reps to network with retailers and talk in depth about new models and new products.”


Said Salomon New England sales rep Ken MacDonald, “I was amazed to see the quality of the attendees. Some of the best boot fitters east of the Mississippi were there to update their skills.”


“MFU was great, as always,” said Phil Burgess of Ski Stop in Westwood and Canton, MA who was attending for the 11th time. “And it was nice to see boot vendors show up and gain some insight into what we do. MFU should be mandatory for boot reps.”


First time attendee Josh Chittenden of Berkshire Outfitters in Adams, MA said, “These are the best of the best instructors. I look forward to applying what I learned.”

This week, Masterfit University has taken a detour across the Atlantic with its first-ever European event, in Kitzbuhel, Austria. More than 55 people from 10 countries are currently at MFU/EU which launched the first-ever foreign language version of the MFU training manual (in German).


MFU returns to North America Oct. 26-27 in Denver, CO and then moves on to Seattle (Oct. 31-Nov. 1) before concluding in Reno (Nov. 7-8).
