Microban Relaunches Global Textiles Division this August at 2016 Outdoor Retailer Summer Market

Expanded Technologies Combined with Larger Product and Sales Team, a Brand Refresh and New Website, Lay Foundation for Apparel and Accessories Partnerships

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (June 14, 2016)Microban® International Ltd., the global leader in textile odor control and prevention, today announced it will relaunch its textiles division globally at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2016. Leveraging its 30-year heritage of providing innovative protection solutions for extended freshness and odor control in textiles, Microban will introduce a complete brand refresh, including a new website launching in October and revamped marketing collateral for its brand partners. Microban will also expand its product and sales team with seasoned apparel industry executives. In addition, Microban will host a “Fresh Bar” experience at its ORSM booth # 250-109, where show attendees compare apparel and footwear fabrics treated with Microban technologies against untreated fabrics.

The relaunch of its global textile division builds upon Microban’s debut of its recent odor capture and antimicrobial products including Excalibur® and Scentry®, now being used by top apparel and footwear brands and manufacturers. Coinciding with this momentum, is Microban’s recent bluesign® approval for its ZPTech®, a wide-spectrum antimicrobial technology for textiles used by more than 60 leading sports, athleisure, apparel and footwear brands.

“We are relaunching the textiles division because the global marketplace is changing dramatically,” said Pablo Perella-Berdun, president of Microban. “Consumers are demanding more from their apparel and accessories and how they perform during strenuous conditions or extended wear. We now have a much more robust toolbox for communicating the features and benefits of our proprietary technologies. We will not only be providing an increased ROI for our brand partners, but also, more advantages for the end consumer.”

Brand partners and consumers will see an entirely new Microban, from next generation technologies and freshness solutions to a new logo, positioning and tagline. The branding will debut at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in a redesigned booth, where visitors experience the latest in odor control science at the Microban “Fresh Bar,” comparing products that have Microban technologies against products that do not. In addition, guests that participate in the “Fresh Bar” will be treated to lunch, a fresh, made-to-order salad, while supplies last on days one and two.

“This is about delivering functional apparel, footwear and accessory components enabling consumers to focus on their activities, and not worry about odor,” said Lisa Owen, senior director of global textiles business at Microban. The reaction so far from our long-term partners has confirmed our thinking – we are clearly on the right track.”

In order to work more closely with existing and new brand partners around the world, Microban will add three additional Scentry® products and three technical and sales specialists to its global textile teams this year.

“We want to introduce key influencers to the new Microban,” continued Owen. “Not only do we have a wide range of solutions for odor and antimicrobial challenges, we now have an enhanced brand with a very strong global team. In conjunction with this relaunch of the textiles division, Microban is expanding its consumer facing website,, providing comprehensive home cleaning tips and products using Microban.
