ASHVILLE, NC – Oct. 10, 2006 – Retailers of the Outdoor Industry (ROI) is proud to announce that Midwest Mountaineering is joining the buying group. ROI is composed of independent, entrepreneurial outdoor retailers and is the premiere buying group in the outdoor specialty marketplace.
Midwest Mountaineering becomes ROI’s 32nd outdoor specialty retail member.
Owned and founded by Rod Johnson, Midwest Mountaineering (www.Midwestmtn.com) is the largest outdoor retailer in Minnesota and has been in business for 36 years.
This partnership will offer Midwest Mountaineering an opportunity for learning and sharing of operational information with other ROI members, best practices through ROI Vendor Partners, group buying power and membership into an influential group of retailers who find power in numbers.
“We have more power as a group when approaching manufacturers, Outdoor Retailer and the government,†Johnson said. “I would like to help make ROI a force that could lobby for political change,†he said.
Dave Matz of ROI welcomes Midwest Mountaineering and Johnson’s invigorating approach to creating change.
“Midwest Mountaineering is a rock-solid retailer, one that gives ROI a great member in a Northern-tier state,†Matz said. “Additionally, Midwest Mountaineering is a retailer that’s very strong in paddlesports. ROI is excited to learn from our newest member and look forward to integrating Rod’s ideas and resources.
