MiÅn Footwear is now accepting entries for its environmental film award program called MiÅn Solutions.
Entry forms and rules and regulations for the MiÅn Solutions film award program can be obtained at www.withoutabox.com. All entries should be submitted to withoutabox.com by July 21, 2006.
Award winners will be announced at a special film screening and reception at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in August 2006. In addition, winning films will be continually played at MiÅn’s booth during the OR show.
The MiÅn Solutions program will recognize films that inspire environmental activism and stewardship at a local or regional level. Through MiÅn Solutions, MiÅn will recognize three outstanding environmental “short-films†each year. The award committee, composed of environmentalists, film experts and MiÅn team members, will review film submissions.
MiÅn will award $5,000 to the first place winner to help fund future environmental films and donate $5,000 to the environmental non-profit of the award winner’s choice, for a total of $10,000. Second and third place winners will receive $6,000 and $4,000 (split between award to winner and donation), respectively.
“The goal of the program is to use the power and artistry of film to recognize, celebrate and support the efforts of individuals and grassroots organizations who through vision and personal conviction have been able to positively affect their local environment,†says MiÅn Footwear Brand Director Erik Burbank. “Ultimately, we want to inspire others to get involved and make a difference in their own communities.â€
Because MiÅnâ„¢ shoes are designed for amphibious athletes, MiÅn Solutions’ awards will give preference to those stories dealing with the health of rivers, lakes, oceans, and coastal areas. Awards also will be based on the artistry and inspirational nature of the films.
Since its debut at OR Summer Market 2005, MiÅn has explored new ways to become better stewards of the earth’s limited resources. MiÅnâ„¢ footwear is committed to 100% renewable energy, the distribution center it uses gets 60% of its power from on-site solar panels, the company uses post-consumer recycled materials in the production of all of its marketing materials, and MiÅn has created and launched an Ecometrics label designed to provide visibility into the environmental impact of its products.
MiÅn is a division of The Timberland Company.
