Molly Sheridan, Las Vegas Author and Ultramarathoner Invited to Present “Adventures in the Himalaya” at Ashoka University in Haryana, India on August 5

LAS VEGAS (June 26, 2014)Molly Sheridan, Las Vegas-based author and ultramarathoner, will present her talk “Adventures in the Himalaya” on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014 at the prestigious Ashoka University in Haryana, India. Sheridan, who was invited by the University to address students and faculty, will discuss her experience running La Ultra “The High” Ultramarathon in 2013. The race covers 138 miles (222 kilometers) of terrain in the Himalaya, including two 18,000+ peaks. She will also discuss the general health benefits of walking and running for fitness and adventure.

Sheridan is the first American woman to run La Ultra and to run two 18,000+ peaks in the Himalayas in one race. After her talk, she will assist Dr. Rajat Chauhan, director of La Ultra, in coordinating event logistics for the 2014 race. Dr. Chauhan, a sports medicine doctor in New Delhi, is also Ashoka University’s director of sports and fitness.

Due to her great expertise on health and wellness, Sheridan is continually invited to speak at a variety of noteworthy conferences and universities around the world. Earlier this month, Sheridan presented her talk “Running and Walking for Health and Adventure,” at the Jeju Island Designing a New Asia Conference. Addressing health and wellness professionals, she joined many other prestigious speakers such as Carly Fiorina, the former CEO of Hewlett-Packard; Julia Gillard, former prime minister of Australia; and Salam Fayyad, the former prime minister of Palestine.

After her talk, Sheridan did a book signing at the city hall in Seoul, Korea where she met with foreign ministers and prospective government officials who were running for office.

On Wednesday, September 17, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., REI in Summerlin will host a book signing event for Sheridan’s new book, Running Past Midnight:A Woman’s Ultra-Marathon Adventure. She will also present her talk From Zero to 138 Miles: A novice runner’s journey to the toughest footraces on the planet. Books will be available for purchase for $20 and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Outside Las Vegas Foundation. The event is free and open to the public and attendees will have chance to win great prizes.

About Molly Sheridan

Molly Sheridan is a competitive ultramarathoner, motivational speaker, professional race organizer and author. In 2007, Sheridan completed her first marathon, and since then, she has run over 45 ultramarathons. The documentary “Molly’s Run” follows her as she completes the Badwater Ultramarathon, considered the toughest footrace on the planet, at which she received the coveted buckle for finishing under the 48-hour time limit. She is also the first American woman to attempt and complete La Ultra-The High, an ultramarathon in India. In 2014 she published “Running Past Midnight: A Woman’s Ultra-Marathon Adventure,” chronicling her story.
