Momentum Indoor Climbing Hosts Grand Opening of its First Texas Location Momentum Katy on Saturday, July 15, 2017

SALT LAKE CITY (Apr. 10, 2017) – Momentum ™ Indoor Climbing, inspiring world-class climbing gyms, hosts the grand opening of its first Texas location Momentum Katy, on Saturday, July 15, 2017. The 36,000 square-foot facility located at 25410 Katy Mills Parkway, 25 miles west of downtown Houston, is a full-service facility that offers climbing, bouldering, youth and adult programming and training tools for elite climbers, along with yoga and cross training.

Grand opening festivities start at 10 a.m. and include food trucks, music, raffles and appearances by professional athletes. Following the event, Momentum Katy will open at 6 a.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. on weekends. Momentum Katy is the one of the largest climbing gym in the United States. It offers 29,000 square feet of roped climbing, bouldering, training walls and kids climbing. Industry leader Walltopia is building the gym’s walls, which were designed by Momentum’s Salt Lake City design team. Momentum Katy can accommodate hundreds of climbers, and includes a 5,520 square-foot cross training area, dedicated yoga studio, locker rooms and laptop workspaces. The second floor mezzanine, which offers “auto-belay” climbing and party pace, will double as a viewing area for competitions, including national level competitions for youth and adults.

“Momentum Katy is our most comprehensive gym to date, and has been designed to offer Houston area climbers, first-timers to elite, an unmatched climbing experience,” said Jeff Pedersen, co-founder, and CEO of Momentum. “We are excited to share our sport with Katy and the greater Houston area communities and have created custom programming and terrain just for them.”

Momentum established a reputation for excellence in youth programming, producing champions like Nathaniel Coleman, 20, of Utah who is the current USA Climbing Bouldering National Champion. Youth programming is offered for children ages 3-19.

Momentum Katy is the Salt Lake City based company’s fourth climbing gym and the first outside of Utah. Ben Brown of the Houston-based brokerage firm Baker Katz, who also serves as Momentum’s master broker, helped to execute the Katy deal. Baker Katz has also worked with Momentum to broker Momentum Silver Street bouldering gym near downtown Houston in the Washington Avenue Arts District, which will open in October.
