Mountain Hardwear Announces 07 Gives Back Grant Recipients

Mountain Hardwear Inc., is pleased to announce the 2007 recipients of its Gives Back grants program. The program has five arms designated to reflect the company’s priorities: Environmental, Outdoor Community, Recreation, Industry and Employee.

RICHMOND, Calif. (Oct. 18, 2006) – Mountain Hardwear Inc., is pleased to announce the 2007 recipients of its Gives Back grants program. The grants are part of the company’s philanthropic giving program which was restructured late in 2005 with the first round of grants awarded in early 2006. The program has five arms designated to reflect the company’s priorities: Environmental, Outdoor Community, Recreation, Industry and Employee. Awarded annually, Gives Back grants are administered by a board of Mountain Hardwear employees.

Environmental Grant recipients include:

Conservation Alliance
Center for Snow and Avalanche Studies
Leave No Trace
Rocky Mountain Field Institute
Save the Wild Up

Outdoor Community recipients include:
Big City Mountaineers
Central Asia Institute
Medicines Global
The Mountain Fund
The Women’s Wilderness Institute
Youth Enrichment Strategies (YES)

Recreation recipients include:
The Access Fund
American Alpine Club
American Hiking Society
American Mountain Guides Assoc
The Appalachian Trail Conservancy
Continental Divide Trail Alliance
Outdoor Industry Foundation

Industry recipients include:
Outdoor Industries Women’s Coalition
Outdoor Industry Association
Snowsport Industries of America

Employee grants may be applied for and are awarded throughout the year. They were designed to encourage individuals at Mountain Hardwear to be proactive in supporting the company’s Gives Back program. Employee awards can be financial or can provide paid time off for time spent volunteering.

“We are thrilled to be able to grow this program which provides grants to both grass roots efforts and the older established organizations known for supporting the environment and outdoor recreation. In the long run these organizations protect our livelihood and of course our passions,” said Mike Wallenfels, president of Mountain Hardwear.
