Made in USA has a special meaning at Mountainsmith. The first lumbar pack that launched the company was designed by founder Patrick Smith and produced in Colorado. For holiday season 2010, a limited edition of the iconic and retro Tour Classic and Day Classic lumbar packs return. They will stay true to their Made in USA heritage and utilize American-made Cordura, historically the most durable nylon fabric on the market.
“These packs have a look and feel reminiscent of the original styles, dating back almost 30 years,†commented Jay Getzel, National Sales Manager. “Patrick Smith launched these styles as the cornerstone of our brand and this exclusive production run will carry on the tradition of bombproof construction and utility laden design.â€
Both the Day Classic and the smaller Tour Classic offer the same features. Each is designed with a zippered main compartment, interior zippered hanging compartment and a zippered front panel with a key clip. Comfort is ensured with the iconic Patented Delta Compression System load adjustment system, EVA padded back panel and a removable shoulder strap. Convenience is added with a back panel airline ticket pockets and two compression straps. Two side water bottle pockets with Mountainsmith’s iconic yellow bungee complete the package.
The line adds a domestic manufacturing component to Mountainsmith’s skill set and offers loyal customers the opportunity to replace their tried and true styles from the 1990’s. In the years to come, the goal is to offer retailers just-in-time manufacturing on select segments of the line, allowing the company to turn inventory more quickly and support the cut and sew manufacturing sector in the USA. “ We are excited to announce the roll-out of our first run for holiday 2010 with plans to release limited runs of additional classic styles in 2011 and beyond,†Getzel went on to say.
Mountainsmith’s commitment to innovation began in 1979 and continues to the present with a full line of active lifestyle products. The quality and comfort of all Mountainsmith products—technical backpacks, travel storage systems, luggage, camera bags, as well as the lumbar pack icons—set the standard for the worldwide outdoor marketplace. Mountainsmith manufactures, markets, and distributes an expanding group of products designed to meet the demands of travel on and off the trail, through airports, and anywhere that carrying-comfort is essential. Mountainsmith products are sold worldwide.
