Mountainsmith does not forget their four-legged friends. In fact, they were one of the original dog pack manufacturers and have continued to sell thousands since then. Over the past few years, the company has brought new products to market acknowledging the fact that dogs are an integral part of many families and have the same kind of organizational needs, whether it is on the trail, at the campsite or for a week-end trip. New for Fall 2011 include two sizes of K-9 leashes and K-9 collars and the packable K-9 Backbowl for food and water on the trail.

Two collars and two leashes continue Mountainsmith’s “green” story that started several years ago. (In fact, they were the first outdoor company to utilize recycled fabric in packs.) All four pieces are constructed using the company’s ReDuraâ„¢ PET webbing (100% Recycled) made from recycled 16-ounce plastic bottles. Four and six bottles used in the construction of Small/Medium and Medium/Large collars are saved from going into the landfill as are ten and 14 in the corresponding size leashes.

The dog-friendly collars utilize tubular webbing for increased stability and strength. Contoured side release buckles provide an ergonomic fit. The leashes also utilize tubular webbing and contoured hardware. In addition, their owner-friendly waistbelts function for hands-free running/walking and the secondary “hold-steady” handle above the leash clip point keeps Fido safe at crosswalks and stoplights.

Roll-it, fold-it, and pack-it are the mottos for Mountainsmith’s new K-9 Backbowl. The machine washable bowl will hold either food or water. Water-resistant snaps create the shape and then, after use, it lays flat for packing, cleaning or drying. The bowl has many uses, including hiking, backpacking, travel or even walking around a tradeshow, dog in-hand.

Mountainsmith’s commitment to innovation began in 1979 and continues to the present with a full line of active lifestyle products. The quality and comfort of all Mountainsmith products—technical backpacks, travel storage systems, luggage, camera bags, as well as the lumbar pack icons—set the standard for the worldwide outdoor marketplace. Mountainsmith manufactures, markets, and distributes an expanding group of products designed to meet the demands of travel on and off the trail, through airports, and anywhere that carrying-comfort is essential.
