SEATTLE, Wash. (June 28, 2018) – Mountain Safety Research(MSR) is excited to sign on as a sponsor for the 2018 Outbound Collective Pursuit Series. As the exclusive stove and water filter sponsor, MSR will teach classes on stove safety and use in the backcountry.
The Pursuit Series was created to offer a summer camp-like experience for adults who love to be outside or want to learn more about the outdoors. As an inclusive event for beginners to seasoned outdoor adventurers, the goal of the series is to introduce new outdoor recreationists to the basics and advance the skills of seasoned athletes, in a fun, community-building environment.
Attendees will benefit from hands-on, small group learning activities, including trail running, mountain biking, rock climbing, backpacking, and hiking. Additionally, hundreds of hands-on field sessions provide valuable lessons on topics including outdoor first aid, backcountry meals, basecamp cooking, how to pack a backpack, and more. This year’s locations take place in Bear Valley, CA and Hunter Mountain, NY.
MSR will have representatives in attendance at both locations and host a series of classes every day of the event at both locations. “Stoves 101” focuses on stove safety, field repairs, and how to choose the stove that’s best for each user and experience. “Water Treatment 101” explains why water treatment is necessary in the backcountry, the difference between filters and purifiers, and how to choose the best water treatment for each trip.
“The Outbound Collective Pursuit Series offers an exciting opportunity for the public to receive hands-on training with MSR stoves and other products,” says Scott Youmans, Stoves and Combustion Category Manager at MSR. “With stove safety and repair education, attendees will be better prepared for enjoyable cooking experiences outdoors.”
