MSR® Mutha Hubba™ Wins Backpacker 2006 Editors' Choice Award

The Mutha Hubba from MSR® (Mountain Safety Research) has been honored as a recipient of a 2006 Backpacker magazine Editors’ Choice Award.

SALT LAKE CITY, UT, March 15 – The Mutha Hubba from MSR® (Mountain Safety Research) has been honored as a recipient of a 2006 Backpacker magazine Editors’ Choice Award, the most prestigious award in the outdoor industry, given annually to products in recognition of their outstanding innovation in design, materials and/or performance.

Backpacker Editor-In-Chief Jonathan Dorn and his staff of editors and testers presented the MSR team with the award at the annual Outdoor Retailer Winter Market in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 28th.

The Backpacker Editors’ Choice Awards, bestowed annually since 1993, honor the products that Backpacker editors have chosen as the best of the year based on months of trail testing by teams of highly experienced hikers and climbers. With no set categories for the awards and no set number of recipients, the products and the testing process drive the award categories.

The Mutha Hubba from MSR was one of only 15 innovative products that have been honored with a 2006 Backpacker Editors’ Choice Award.

The Mutha Hubba is a three-person tent that weighs just under seven pounds, making it the lightest, most livable three-person tent in the MSR Fast & Light® series. The addition of two extra poles to the award-winning pole configuration found on the previous Hubba models allows the Mutha Hubba to provide an impressive 40 square feet of floor area, 14 square feet of vestibule area and 46 inches of interior height. Although it is a new design, the Mutha Hubba shares many of the same technical features as the very successful Hubba Hubba™; two stay-dry entrances and two large vestibules on each end, a polyester mesh body, a hub system for easy setup and reflective guy cord and Needle™ stakes are just a few of the features that truly make this tent the mother of all Hubbas!
