NÜWA Relocates to LEED-CS Certified Green Building
Tustin, CA –January 12, 2009 Nüwa® Textiles [new-wey] Nüwa Textiles, a market leader in industrial nylon, polyester and recycled polyester, will relocate in February 2009 to a building with three green certifications including the coveted LEED-CS® designation.
This new location was the first building on the West Coast to be certified for Silver status in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED-CS) development program, which is sponsored by the U.S. Green Building Council, the nation’s leading advocate of sustainable design.
“We say our fabrics are better because of the ecologically sound method of manufacturing,†said company President Michael Shih,†and this is our way of extending that philosophy to our corporate offices.â€
Nüwa will move to 2211 Michelson, a 12-story, 266,605-square-foot office tower strategically located in the heart of the Irvine Business Complex, Feb. 1. Convenient for international business, the offices are two blocks east of John Wayne Airport. The building was designed by architect Paul Danna, a principal of DMJM Design, the standout green design features qualifying the building for its certifications include: innovative wastewater and water conservation technologies; reduction in the use of electricity through highly efficient lighting and HVAC systems; low-emitting light materials (www.spectrum.ieee.org) ; 60 percent more glass than conventional office buildings providing maximum daylight within interior spaces; extensive gardens with 50 new trees; and landscaped outdoor workspaces.
The property’s certifications now include:
· LEED-CS® Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
· DEES designation—received the “Designed to Earn the Energy Star†(DEES) status under the EPA’s national ENERGY STAR® program for commercial buildings.
· The first-ever City of Irvine Green Building award.
