ROCHESTER, N.Y. (November 12, 2007) – Nalgene® Outdoor Products, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. and the leading hydration and storage container brand, today unveils three new vibrant high density polyethylene (HDPE) bottles. New bottle colors include red and orange, both adorned with Nalgene’s original, retro logo. In addition, the new collection will offer a commemorative spring green bottle as part of Nalgene’s partnership with Brita® and the FilterForGoodâ„¢ campaign (www.filterforgood.com).

The HDPE collection also will include the children’s Grip-n-Gulp and mini-grip bottles, with plans to expand the line further in 2008.

HDPE is one of the most sturdy and reliable plastics on the market today and makes a great choice for those looking for an alternative to polycarbonate plastic, glass and disposable bottles and containers. HDPE was the basis for the original Nalgene bottle introduced in the 1970s and was the catalyst for making hands-on water bottles a ubiquitous hydration tool among outdoor enthusiasts. The Nalgene bottle has grown to become an important staple among consumers; carrying a Nalgene is a badge of personal style and lifestyle.

“The introduction of the new HDPE line represents changing demands in the marketplace,” said Eric Hansen, senior marketing manager, Nalgene Outdoor Products. “Not everyone needs the legendary durability of polycarbonate. The new line gives consumers a choice in the type of plastic that’s right for them, all with the quality and style they’ve come to expect from Nalgene.”

Today, the Nalgene product line offers more than five different types of plastics used in multiple products, boasting the industry’s largest Made in the USA bottle and container collection on the market. HDPE is a great alternative for people who prefer a lightweight, reliable and reusable bottle. The plastic resists UV penetration, is dishwasher safe and withstands temperatures from -148°F to 248°F. All Nalgene products are Made in the USA and are subjected to rigorous quality testing.

The HDPE bottle is just one example of Nalgene’s breadth of line and variety of plastics. The company is committed to bringing new, exciting products to market. “For the past two years, we’ve been working with our resin suppliers to find alternative materials without compromising our commitment to make the best quality and longest lasting products available,” said Hansen.
