SANTA BARBARA, CA – In recognition of the rapid evolution, growth and success of the Purnell clothing line, Brita Womack has been named “Entrepreneur to Watch in 2016” by the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), Santa Barbara Chapter.

A full line of versatile men’s and women’s styles poised for national recognition, Purnell began in 2013 as niche-focused work wear. The early designs quickly gained popularity, bridging the gaps between work, casual and active wear. Womack and Purnell co-founder Brent Dehlsen knew they were on to something and applied their approach to create a fresh collection of revised classics, which they’ve further grown and refined over the course of the last three years.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by such a talented and successful group of business people,” said Womack. “We’ve worked very hard on every single item in the Purnell line, and I’m sincerely grateful for this endorsement from the National Association of Women Business Owners.”

Womack, a Southern California native who studied at San Diego State University as an undergraduate, began her career in the software industry after attending graduate school at the University of Texas. From there, she went on to manage e-commerce for well-known national clothing chains, with a career that’s taken her from Southern California to Texas, Tennessee and back to the Central Coast of California.

For more than 40 years, NAWBO has served to create a community of entrepreneurial women and to remove obstacles to successful business ownership. This year’s Bravo Awards were the Santa Barbara NAWBO chapter’s second annual. The event took place at Hyatt Santa Barbara on Thursday, March 10, 2016.
